KuMeKo Forest Oy is an agile, growing forest service company founded in 2012. In its growth efforts the company relies on the support of Rajobit’s software robots.

Forestry company KuMeKo Forest Oy produces high-quality wood chip for farm use as well as for industrial boilers used in heat and power plants. The company provides also timber and pulpwood for the sawmilling and process industry. The rising, successful company utilises technology and has rapidly grown its business in the recent years. In its growth efforts the company relies on the support provided by Rajobit’s software robots.

KuMeKo Forest first automated its routines in the autumn of 2020. The first software robot was acquired to help with the data related to the wood trade.

– The certificates of measurement in our timber trade used to be entered in the system manually. It was a time-consuming task for an employee, says Amanda Peltomäki, Operations Manager at KuMeKo Forest Oy.

Nowadays the robot goes through emails, gathers the required data and sends it to invoicing. The tasks are performed flawlessly and with certainty. That is how the robot was planned to function in collaboration with Rajobit.

– From our point of view, the automation was effortless. We can trust it to perform its tasks with precision. You can basically just leave it to its duties, Peltomäki says.

We can trust the robot to perform its tasks with precision.

Collaboration with Rajobit was easy and straightforward.

– We had an excellent rapport with Henri Tuomivaara and John Alander throughout the project. All our questions were answered convincingly with a high level of expertise. They took everything seriously and there was no such thing as a silly question, says Peltomäki referencing working with RPA Developer Henri Tuomivaara and John Alander, Sales Director and Partner at Rajobit.

The software robot frees up the employees time so they can concentrate on their core assignments, states Amanda Peltomäki, Operations Manager at KuMeKo Forest Oy.

– The robot was acquired to make our work easier and it really has done exactly that. You will have time to perform the tasks that are part of your work while the robot takes care of the routines. There is no sense in having employees spend time on work that can be assigned to be done by a robot, Peltomäki says.

The company already has two software robots and an implementation of a third one is being planned. The second robot puts together reports and enters them in the accounting system.

– Once again, this is something that’s perfect for a robot, says Amanda Peltomäki, Operations Manager at KuMeKo Forest Oy.

KuMeKo Forest Oy was pleasantly surprised about the extent of reporting the robot is capable of doing using the databases, Peltomäki says. The company has discovered more work phases that could be suitable for automation. The potential use for robotics for different tasks in the future is under consideration also in the subsidiaries KuMeKo Recycling Oy and Aava Shipping Oy.

– We did not, perhaps, know to question the way routines were done previously. Now, with all this knowledge, you begin to recognise different process phases that could be performed in a smarter way, says Operations Manager Amanda Peltomäki.

– We cannot wait for our next robot.
